Topic of the Week Tuesdays: Valentine’s Day! Kissable Lips

Ok, it’s finally here!  Valentine’s Day!  You ladies may not be saying it, but you KNOW you’re thinking it.  Will I get that special kiss with that special date for Valentine’s Day?  Are your lips ready?  Well, here are a couple of tips and tricks to make sure your lips are ultra supple, kissable, and festively colored for that alluring and irresistible lip.

First you will want to exfoliate your lips to remove any dead skin and dry areas that can make your lips rough and make your chosen lip color “skip” and “catch” on your lips leaving clumps of lip product and uneven texture.  You can use a lip exfoliator such as Bite Beauty’s Whipped Chery Lip Scrub or Lush’s Bubblegum Lip Scrub.  You can also take a dry wash cloth (after letting your lips sit with Vaseline or other lip moisturizer in a thick layer so that it absorbs) and gently buff the dead skin off of your lips.

After this you will want to reapply a lip moisturizer, let it set in for a few minutes, and then gently dab your lips with a tissue to take off excess moisturizer.  You can also apply a lip mask the night before leaving it on all night to absorb extra moisture such as Bite Beauty’s Agave Lip Mask that has a blend of jojoba oil, organic agave nectar, and vanilla co2 extract to condition lips.  Some other good conditioning lip balms are Josie Maran’s Argan Lip Treatment or Nivea’s  “A Kiss of Milk & Honey Soothing Lip Treatment”.

After choosing your “weapon” of color in lip product in a soft nude, coral, pink, or red color correct for your skin tone, make sure it is a long-lasting formula that is not too drying that will last through eating, drinking, and yes, that possible kiss.  Choose a lip product that is a satin or matte formula as these will last longer and not be too “slippery”, “watery”, or sticky.  You may want to use a lip liner to fill in your lips before applying your lip product.  This will also make your lip color last longer and fill in areas where you lip product may wear off.  If you have trouble with “feathering” on your lips, line your lips with liner to help prevent this and keep your color in place.  If using a matte lip color, you may want to apply a bit of lip gloss to help keep your lips from being too dry.  Bite Beauty’s Lush Lip Tint or Lush Fruit Lip Gloss made with fresh fruit are great choices.  All of Bite Beauty’s lip products taste amazing!!

So!  Go out have fun on your date with confidence that in case there is that “Valentine’s Day kiss”, you’re prepared and that you just might be the date that your date remembers as the date with the most memorable, kissable lips!!
