Highlighter Focus: Algenist’s Concentrated Luminizing Drops

Liquid illuminizing drops are a great way to add some glow to your makeup look.   You can add them to the high points of your face or mixed in to your foundation for an extra glow.  These relatively new Reveal Concentrated Luminizing Drops liquid illuminators from Algenist are a new edition to the beauty market and on trend with the recent surge in liquid highlighter drops that have been on the beauty market lately.  There have actually been many liquid illuminizers on the market for quite some time like Stila (kitten all over body shimmer; a golden champagne), Sephora’s Luminizing Drops (three colors in Morning Light that is a champagne color), Ultralight; a bronze, and Morning Light; a Starlight; a luminous pink), Clinique has an “Uplighting Liquid Illuminator” (a soft-beige with gold shimmer), NYX has its “Born to glow” Liquid Illuminators in 4 colors (Gleam, Pure Gold, Sun Goddess, Sunbeam), and Loreal Tru Match Lumi’s “Ice”, “Rose”, and Golden.  The most recent on the market like Cover FX’s Custom Enhancer Drops (like “Celestial”; a glistening pearl, “Moonlight”; a shimmering beige, and “Sunlight” a soft glowing gold are just a few and have been gaining popularity with makeup artists and consumers.

These new drops are very moisturizing with a really nice consistency and coverage that sits really well on your skin.  They are not streaky or patchy, don’t glob up or spread too thinly, and are very moisturizing and silky .  The two colors I have are “Pearl” ( a light shimmering silver-beige) and “Champagne” (a light shimmering golden beige).  They also have a Rose’ ( a pretty pink pearlescent shade) that I haven’t tried but I’m sure is the same quality as the other two.  When they dry they have almost a powder-like soft finish (although not as glossy) and definitely hold true their color. They are pricey and are  $38.00 for 0.5 (15ml) and in a nice frosty glass bottle with a convenient dropper and is neat and non-messy to use.  I haven’t tried too many illuminating drops yet like those most popular out right now on the market but definitely feel that the quality of these is worth the investment and is a beautiful product!
