Makeup Focus: Marc Jacobs Coconut Facial Products

Some of the most recent makeup products that have hit the beauty market recently are the Marc Jacobs coconut makeup products everyone seems to be raving about on social media and elsewhere as part of the spring/summer collection to launch for 2017.  I had seen the hype about them on social media among some of the most popular beauty YouTubers channels and had to see what the fuss is all about “Dew You Dew Drops Coconut Gel Highlighter Drops”, the “Re(cover) 24 Hour Perfecting Coconut Setting Mist”, and the “Invisible Under(Cover) Perfecting Coconut Smoothing Face Primer” to try.

First of all,  the packaging is absolutely beautiful and very sleek which is what you would expect from Marc Jacobs.  It is in white and silver streamlined bottles with the “Dew Drops” and the “Perfecting Coconut Primer” being in a frosted glass bottle and the “Perfecting Coconut Primer Setting Mist” is in a pretty plastic frosted glass bottle.  They each have a good amount of product which is good to know considering the price and the high end that they are.  The setting spray runs at $44.00, the primer goes for $44.00, and the setting spray is priced at $39.00.

They all have coconut milk (which provides nourishing dehydration) and coconut water (provides electrolytes with a light cooling effect to the skin).  They have a light “coconut” and clean scent to them which is really pleasant and not overpowering at all.  The primer is a nice light mist that upon drying is a little bit sticky and perfect for adhering makeup to the skin.  The liquid highlighter (it is breathtaking and makes my heart go all a flutter) is in the same pretty frosted glass bottle.  It is a very moisturizing and creamy gel-like formula that has the same coconut light scent with a lot of pigmentation without being patchy or runny and is easy to blend on the skin.  I have normal to dry skin type but I think it would be good for most skin types, even sensitive and oily but if you are worried about the oily shine you could always use a primer for oily or porous skin like Benefit “Porefessional” or Smashbox’s Photo Finish Primer Oil Free Pore Minimizing underneath it.  They dry nice with good coverage being smooth and even.  The color is sheer with a slightly golden glow and would really give a “lit from within” look when used under foundation.  The setting spray also has a light coconut clean scent and actually comes with a good amount of product for the price (lower than the other two and doesn’t say how many fluid oz).  It has a nice fine mist which covers well over makeup without leaving that “droplet” look that can ruin your makeup with a light silky feeling and dries a bit sticky (which  I wish was a little smoother because I don’t know about you personally but I like my face to have a soft finish) but dries well.

So, per usual, the Marc Jacobs quality we have all come to love and expect is spot on and with these as a new edition to their beauty line they are bound to and are doing well and I would recommend them as a good addition to your makeup routine.
