New Makeup Focus: Fenty Beauty by Rihanna

Rhianna’s new line of cosmetics called Fenty Beauty launched last night at midnight and I was about to purchase some of her products online but while on a product hunt for posts for the blog at Sephora today, I was pleasantly surprised when I saw the beautiful full display for Fenty Beauty right there in front of me when I walked in.  There are a lot more products to the line like concealers, primer (that I didn’t know they had one)finishing powders, highlighter duo’s, and cream highlighter sticks that aren’t on online with quite a selection of shades and colors in really beautiful modern modulated packaging in shades of blush, cream, and grey.  I had originally wanted to just purchase  a couple of items I had seen online but when I saw how much more there was to the line I changed my mind.

I tested several of the products and they were all of such great quality in each category it was hard to decide.  The “Pro Filter Instant Retouch Primer” was to die for and a really silky moisturizing oil-free formula with a lovely glow to it that claims to “smooth away” the look of pores while evening out the skin tone and texture, absorbing shine for a better application, and longer wear with an “instant retouch effect” in a soft-matte formula.  There were also several highlighter duo’s that I tried that were gorgeous as well as really buttery and pigmented with highlighter on each side, one being a subtle sheen and the other being a high shimmer in colors like “Lightning Dust/Fire Crystal” (a soft pearlescent sheen and a supercharged pearlescent shimmer), “Mean Money/Hustla Baby” (a soft champagne sheen and a peachy champagne shimmer), “Girl Next Door/Chic Phreak (a soft pink sheen and a supercharged peachy-pink shimmer), “Ginger Binge/Moscow Rule” (a soft copper sheen and a supercharged copper shimmer).  They are described as a “weightless long-wear cream-powder hybrid highlighter” and they definitely live up to their name when I swatched them and look forward to purchasing more so I can see how they wear and how long they last.  Also, there are 2 single powder “Freestyle Highlighters” in the shades “Trophy Wife” (a 3D Hyper-Metallic Gold) and “Metal Moon” Mega-Fine White Gold Pearl” which are both gorgeous; one with high shimmer and one that is more of a low shimmer gleam.  They are priced at $34.00 for 0.28 ounces of product.  There are also 10 cream stick highlighters called “Match Stixs” or Shimmer Skinsticks” in some really gorgeous, unique, and interesting shades like “Sinamon” (a cinnamon bronze), “Blonde” (a glimmering gold), “Yacht Lyfe” (a glimmering peach-pink), “Confetti” (an iridescent opal and one of the most beautiful and all skin tone friendly or universal shade), and “Unicorn” (a platinum lilac and one of my most favorite).  They are priced at $25.00 with 0.25 ounces of product.

The concealers are called “Match Stix” (Matte Skinsticks) in warm and cool shades like “Bamboo”, “Linen”, “French Vanilla”, “Wheat”, “Maple”, “Latte”, “Truffle”, and “Suede”.  My shade is “Bamboo” and when I tested it on my face it was creamy and pigmented with good coverage as well as blending really nice.  It was the “light as air” formula it said it was and I look forward to purchasing and trying it as well to “conceal, correct, and contour in combination with the other products designed to mix and match.  I also tried the “Pro Filt’R Soft Matte Longwear Foundation” in the shade 230 Neutral (of which there are a remarkable groundbreaking 40 shades in cool, neutral, and warm tones) that is such a nice non-dry light creamy, really pigmented formula with good coverage (medium to full coverage) that is really blendable and has a nice soft matte finish with a little bit going a long way .  As far as scent goes it is an unremarkable light pleasant soft scent that is not overpowering at all.  It comes in a really pretty frosted glass modular shaped bottle with a good amount of product for the price at $34.00 with 1.08 fluid ounces of product.

After much thought and my arms covered in makeup swatches I decided to purchase the “Pro Filt’R Soft Matte Longwear Foundation”, the “Shimmer Skinstick” in “Starstruck” (a champagne-pink iced-out pearl), and the Freestyle Highlighter in “Trophy Wife” an absolutely jaw-dropping, shimmering, highly pigmented yellow (almost gilded) gold.

Overall, I am so impressed with the new Fenty Beauty brand by Rhianna and pleasantly surprised at how much more I am impressed with it than I thought I would be.  The quality, shades, and variety of this line are outstanding and Rhianna has definitely hit it out of the park with this one and has made a name for herself not only in the music industry but in the cosmetics business as well.
