When the fun of summer season is over and the shock of starting school sets in it is good to know that for makeup shoppers there are some great affordable and drugstore makeup brands out there that will fit your budget. For online there is BH Cosmetics, Colourpop, Morphe, Makeup Revolution, and Shopamorususa just to name a few.
BH Cosmetics just launched a new eyeshadow palette that is a collaboration with beauty influencer Alycia Marie called the “1991” eyeshadow palette that is kind of reminiscent of the nineties shades that were popular when 90’s supermodel Cindy Crawford was in the height of her career and muted shades of nude rose-brown mattes were popular (kind of like what Kylie Jenner made popular again when she started her makeup line). It is a 14 shadow palette with earth and jewel tone shades great for fall like “Legend” (rust-orange shimmer), “Bad Liar” (a dark mocha), “Alchemist” (a deep-purple shimmer), and “Karma” (a camel-yellow) for $20.00. They also have the Golden Twilight” Palette that is a 16 shade palette with earth and jewel tones of warm and cool shades of beautiful sunset colors like olives, golds, azures, and taupe mattes and shimmers priced at $12.00. The Mini Zodiac Palette Series with the latest one being the “Gemini”, a 9 shade palette with rich greens, classic browns, and vibrant shades of sunset with a champagne hue baked highlighter in the middle. It is $8.40 and is compact enough to fit in any purse or backpack. Lip crayons are another great item that is an easy way to use lip color and can be put into any carry bag or cosmetic.
Morphe is another brand that also has quality makeup for an affordable price. The “3503 “Fierce By Nature” Artistry Palette just launched recently (it is kind of a dupe for the 350M & 350S Matte and Shimmer Palettes the we’re Morphe’s best selling palettes that they could never keep in stock as well as the Nature Glow Palettes that came later). It is a palette filled with tangerines, warm golds, cinnamons, pumpkins, terra cottas, copper, and oranges with a pop of color in a lime green shade in the middle of the palette (which I personally don’t like and think it doesn’t fit with the fall colors of the palette) and is priced for $25.00. The other palettes that are great for fall are the compact 25A “Copper Spice” & 35B “Bronzed Mocha” Palette for 25.00 (in gorgeous fall shades and also compact to fit in a carry bag) the 35T “Dope Taupe” Palette for $19.00, and the Nature Glow Palettes at $25.00 as well. Lip crayons are are a great easy on the go way to carry lip color with you that fit into any carry bag and Morphe has some with a pigmented stay put wear that has a soft matte finish in shades like “RSVP” (a scarlet red), “FOMO” (a toasted mauve), and “ASAP” (a rich wine) for $9.00.
Another great brand is the Makeup Revolution line. They have lots of makeup products for great prices of which their blush and highlighter that have received great reviews as well as very popular among the beauty community influencers. They just launched concealer and foundation products that have also gotten wonderful reviews. The “Conceal & Hydrate” and “Full Coverage” Foundations are a companion product of the concealers. The “Conceal & Hydrate” Foundation is a light radiance, medium to full coverage, and hyaluronic acid moisturizing formula for $12.00. Other good palettes for fall the “Double Entrende” Palette of soft brown neutrals and shimmers in a shadow palette for $16.00, the “I Think I Love You” (this is one of my favorites and so “fallish”) with golds, browns, rusts, chocolates, tans, camel, and taupe shades for $16.00, and the Give It To Me Straight” Palette in rose, brown, pink, and beiges also for $16.00.
Colourpop also just came out with a “Pretty Fresh” Collection that consists of tinted moisturizers, a primer, and a setting spray that is hydrating with hylauronic acid and coconut water for normal to dry skin (it is also oil free so oily skin may be ok but you’d have to try it out) in 24 shades. Colourpop describes the line as skin perfecting, lightweight buildable coverage for fresh and healthy skin”. The tinted moisturizer is $14.00, the primer is $12.00, the setting spray is also $12.00, and there is a peach-nude blending sponge for $7.00.
As far as drugstore makeup goes there are also many great beauty lines with quality products. There is Revlon, Cover Girl, Milani, Flower Beauty, E.L.F., Pixie, Wet-N-Wild, Makeup Obsession (a new and getting lots of hype drugstore brand), and my personal favorites NYX and L’Oréal cosmetics (which is owned by Lancôme and no wonder it’s so frickin good!).
E.L.F. Cosmetics has new eyeshadow palettes representing the elements and seasons, etc…, with four palettes called the “Earth & Ocean”, “New Classics”, “Opposites Attract”, “18 Hit Wonders”, and Palettes that run for $14.00. They also have “No Budge Shadow Sticks” for $4.00 in five shades, the new “Glow Gleam Beam Highlighter” Palettes for $10.00 in two shades “Light” and “Dark”, the new “Jellypop Face & Eye Gloss in “Creamsicle” (in an icy and gold shade) for a glossy sheer wash of color for $6.00, and the “Elf & Glow Highlighter” a powder highlighter in the three shades “Golden Glow”, “Taupe Glow”, and “Moonlight Glow” for $6.00. Also, E.L.F. is currently having a 30% off fall sale so there are lots of low prices going on right now to fit your budget.
The beauty brand Wet-N-Wild whose “Mega Glo” Highlighters are some of the best in makeup are for only $14.99 with some new shades recently added. They also just released their first eyeshadow palette called “The 40 Palette” (to celebrate 40 years of Wet-Wild Cosmetics) with 40 shadows that is a great multi purpose color palette to have in your makeup collection to create a lot of different looks for only $19.99. For lip color they have the “Catsuit Mega Last” Liquid Lipsticks in shades like “Send Nudes” and “Caught You Bare Naked” that are $5.29 and there are also their “Mega Jelly” Highlighters and Eyeshadows for $7.99.
Another good drugstore makeup brand is Coty Cosmetics known for its famous (beauty Youtuber and makeup artist Patrick Starr loves this as his setting powder in his makeup artist kit) Airspun Loose Setting Powder has just come out with three new “Airspun Loose Face Highlighting Powders” in the shades “Snow Snow Much Ice” (a champagne beige-pink nude), “Pink Me Up” (a soft pink), and “Glow For Gold” (a soft gold-beige shimmer) for $5.97. The new and raved about cosmetic line Believe Beauty has makeup products that are all under $5.00 that are sold at all Dollar General stores and carry everything from foundations to lip glosses and has gotten great reviews.
Maybelline New York has the amazing “Master Chrome” highlighters (that were so raved about a couple of years ago that I tried them out and was so impressed that I bought them for my kit) that are so buttery and pigmented and priced at only $9.99 as well as their “Super Stay Matte Ink” Liquid Lipsticks that are super popular for $7.99 and the new “Superstay Matte Ink Crayons” for only $7.99. One of their newest releases is the “Dream Urban Cover Foundation” that has such a beautiful formula (it has such natural sheer coverage it’s hard to believe it is full coverage and very buildable) and has antioxidants for pollution protection as well as SPF 50 for $12.99. The “Fit Me” line with its blushes and setting powders that beauty gurus haves praised are also very good and affordably priced.
For the last two drugstore beauty brands and two of my most favorite makeup products as well as for great prices are NYX Cosmetics and L’Oréal. NYX cosmetics has been such a cult favorite for so long even being a favorite among many makeup artists (I bought their lip pencils for my kit for only $2.00 and love them) because they have so many quality products in their line for the price. The newly “Mystic Petal” Palettes just released called the “Dark Mystic” Palette (with muted earth tones) and the “Midnight Orchid” Palette (with bright pastels representing flowers) priced at $12.00. They also just came out with new “Lip Lingerie Push Up Longlasting Liquid Lipsticks” in shades like “Exotic”(a rich red wine) and “French Maid” (a deep mauve). Some of my favorite shadows by NYX are the “Prismatic” Shadows for only $6.00. They are super buttery and pigmented and come in some great shades like “Sunset Daze” (a rusty copper with shimmer) and “Bedroom Eyes” (a deep brown metallic). There are also the “Jumbo” pencils for $2.00, the new “Sweet Cheeks Creamy Powder Blush Glow” blushes for $7.50, and the ever popular “Butter Glosses” (which I also bought for my kit) for $2.50-$5.00, as well as the famous “Soft Matte Lip Creams” Liquid Lipsticks for $3.25-$6.50.
Last but not least is L’Oréal Cosmetics’s that I think is one of the best beauty brands out there. I think one of their best products are the “Infallible 24 Hour Eyeshadows” that are so crazy pigmented, smooth, and buttery and so absolutely stunning when swatched (and even better on the lids) that are only $9.99 in the shades “Amber Rush” (an amber rust), “Bronzed Taupe” (an antique brown), and “Glistening Garnet” (a deep shimmering red) are all gorgeous fall shades. As a primer the “Tru Match Lumi Light Infusing Primer” is a great primer that gives a wonderful luminous glow underneath your foundation for $12.95. The “Infallible Pro-Lock Matte” and “Infallible Pro-Lock Glow” Foundations are such good foundations (some of my faves for drugstore) priced at $12.99. The “Voluminous” Mascara (one of the best mascaras on the market besides Lancôme’s “Hypnose” Mascara and Too Faced’s Better Than Sex” Mascara) for $7.95 and the earlier this year released, very popular, and highly raved about “Lash Paradise” Mascara goes for $9.99.
There are waterproof versions of all these makeup brands as swell as long wear for all day stay put makeup that is good for daily wear and is good for sports throughout the day whatever classes or activities, etc…, you might have whatever the schedule! So, go and enjoy whatever your day brings and be confident that whatever your day is there are plenty of makeup brands out there to fit your affordable makeup needs!
