Holiday Makeup Focus: Too Faced Cosmetics “Pumpkin Spiced” Eyeshadow Palette

Too Faced Cosmetics is well known for its holiday makeup collections that are almost always reminiscent of sugar plum fairies, sparkling snowflakes, and the smell of cookies and gingerbread so when the holidays come around, for makeup lovers especially, this well-loved brand is already on the mind when it comes time to go makeup shopping.

One of the latest holiday collections of theirs is the “Pumpkin Spice and Everything Nice” Holiday Collection Limited Edition and in the collection is the “Pumpkin Spice” Eyeshadow Palette, the “Pumpkin Spice” “Ultra Plush” Lip Gloss, the “Better Than Sex Mascara”, and a makeup brush in the classic Two Faced pink which looks to be an eyeshadow blending brush to go with the palette (or one that you could use in the future with other eyeshadows).  For those of you who have never tried the mascara, it is amazing and the “Pumpkin Spice” Lip Gloss looks really pretty (with gold and orange sparkles in it), but I have never tried a Too Faced lip gloss so I don’t know how the formula is.  Those of you who want to purchase just the palette and not the whole collection, let me tell you it was not easy to find just the palette by itself but I did finally find it on QVC and purchased it for $42.00 (regularly $49.00) and I believe it was the only site (besides maybe Ebay) that had only the palette for sale by itself.  For anyone who missed the palette, it is on sale now on QVC for $29.98.

This gorgeous palette is full of lots of fall-inspired warm and delicious shades in names like “Chocolate Wasted”, “Warm and Creamy”, “Caramel Apples”, “Extra Toasty”, and “Fireplace Cuddles” with there being 16 eyeshadows in all.  It is described as “Inspired by your favorite iconic cold-weather treat that warms you up from the outside in.  This exclusive palette of spicy neutrals with pops of cranberry and gold heats up your look with bursts of fashionable fall colors, an endless variety of finishes, and a buttery-smooth formula.  It is infused with an irresistible pumpkin spice scent being 16 shadows that you can depend on all season long”.

The shades from left to right starting with the top row are:  “Daydreamer” (a matte ivory-white), “Nooks & Cranberries” (a cranberry shimmer), “Warm & Creamy” (a matte peach-beige), “Sweet Tooth” (a gold-orange shimmer), 2nd row:  “Crumb Luck” (a matte orange-brown), “Caramel Apples” (a dark matte red-brown), “Extra Toasty” (a matte medium “toast” brown), “Hot & Coal” (a dark purple with sparkles), 3rd row:  “So Frosty” (a light beige shimmer), “Cinnamon Spice” (a golden medium red-brown), “Slow Burn” (a matte burnt orange), “Fireplace Cuddles” (a light beige shimmer), 4th row:  “Pretty As A Pumpkin” (a matte brown-orange), “Dream Big” (a silver-grey shimmer), “Hay Ride” (a medium gold shimmer), and “Chocolate Wasted” (a dark chocolate-brown).  It comes in gold sturdy cardboard packaging with a good-sized mirror and a picture of a cute little pumpkin at the bottom, as well as a picture of (with I think what looks to be a pumpkin spiced latte) with the title of the palette “Pumpkin Spice and Everything Nice” on the front it.

All of the shadows in the palette are buttery and insanely pigmented in all the varied formulas you could want to play with to create many different looks whether it be night or day in satins, shimmers, and mattes in yummy warm fall shades with a bit of sparkle.  They blend like a dream and there are some good transition shades as well as some pops of color that all mix and match really well with each other.  There are a couple of unique shades (and are in my favorites list) in the palette.  The shade “Hot & Coal” is a very pigmented dark black-purple that has gorgeous purple shimmering flecks in it that you could wear as a dark smokey eye look including on the lid for some sexy nighttime smoldering sparkle and the more you buff it out the more you see the purple in it.  My other favorite is “Sweet Tooth” that looks like a semi-foil in the palette but when you apply or swatch it it is a sheer pumpkin-orange with gold flecks that would be beautiful on the lid as a sheer wash of color.  Another fave color is “Dream Big” which would look great in a halo eye on the center of the lid and is shimmering smokey grey silver-taupe with gold sparkles that would even be a good highlight on medium to deeper skin tones.  The shade “Hay Ride” is a smooth and buttery orange-gold satin shimmer and my favorite matte in the palette is “Caramel Apples” which is a dark brown red-purple and is so blendable that would be good as a smokey outer corner of the eye shade.  Last but not least, there is “Nooks & Cranberries” which is a gorgeous glowing cranberry-orange shimmer.

So in conclusion, I think that the “Pumpkin Spiced” Palette is a must-have for the fall season whether you are a makeup lover or a makeup artist there are many different many looks one can create whether it be “pumpkin” shade looks in varying degrees of orange and fall colored eyeshadow shades with the mattes being just as pigmented as the shimmers.  The only drawback about the palette that I noticed was that it does not really have a strong pumpkin pie scent that it is described as having but it does have a faint sweet candy smell to it.  There is a lot of room for creativity with this palette and it is well worth the price so go and have fun with it!
