Summer sun, salt water, and chlorine from pool and beach activities can really do some damage to your hair so doing a replenishing and super hydrating deep conditioning treatment at the end of the summer can really restore your hair and get it ready for the winter season.
When your hair is strong it has a head start in fighting off the elements so keeping a hair regimen going will keep it shiny and healthy using the right products. There are hair masks, glazes, serums, glosses, bond builders, leave in treatments, oils, super foods (with coconut, avocado, and banana in them), frizz reducers, balms, and scalp conditioners just to name a few out there that can get your hair back to the condition it was in before the summer season. For repairing hair you want to look for products that are hydrating and nourishing formulas that will strengthen the follicle and hair shaft, repair split ends, and antioxidants to protect it from the elements and pollution as well as heat drying and For repairing, hair you want to look for products that are hydrating and nourishing formulas that will strengthen the follicle and hair shaft, repair split ends, and antioxidants to protect it from the elements and pollution as well as heat drying and styling. Treating your hair with a triple system (Olaplex has a three step repairing system with an intensive bonding treatment formula) using moisturizing shampoo, conditioner, intensive repair bonding, and/or protectants can combat your hair damage restoring it after only a few uses.
Choose a shampoo that is hydrating depending on your hair type (or if you want to keep your color choose one that wont strip it. For moisturizing shampoos there is the There are also hair “glosses” out there that will give your hair color a hydrating boost) or even do a hair “detox” that gets rid of build up on your hair leaving it “open” to accept the moisture from the deep conditioning of a super food mask or conditioner of your choice like Briogeos “Scalp Revival Charcoal & Coconut Micro-Exfoliating Shampoo” or The Ouais “Detox Shampoo” for all skin types. There is also the Bumble & Bumble “Liquid Glass” Smoothing Shampoo that is a “rich yet lightweight formula” that cleanses with murumuru butter and neroli oil for a glossy smooth finish
For deep conditioning masks there is Drybars “Mudslide Nourishing Mask (personally one of my favorites that smells amazing and isn’t too pricy), the Nexxuss “Keraphix Damage Healing Mask” (with black rice and keratin protein), Briogeos “Be Gentle, Be Kind” Avocado and Kiwi Mega Moisture Superfood Mask that is rich in vitamin C and spinach extract that nourishes and provides antioxidant protection (there is also the new “Be Gentle Be Kind” soothing and calming collection designed to hydrate and smooth with green tree extraxt, aloe vera, and oatmeal) or the “Don’t Despair Repair” Deep Conditioning Mask) if you still have the “Honey Bear” moisture deep conditioning mask limited edition its also a good one). For drugstore I like the Loreal Elive “Total Repair 5 Damage-Erasing Balm” (Im not crazy about the smell but its a really rich formula) that has 5 damage repair ingredients that repairs up to 5 years of hair damage in just one use, the Hairitage “Mask-Querade” Transforming Hair Mask, (love the pastel packaging and it smells amazing!), and the Hair Food “Avocado & Argan Oil Smoothing Hair Mask” all affordable and sold at Walmart. Another drugstore brand and a favorite of mine is the Pantene Pro-V 10 In 1 Beauty Balm which is really light (but hydrating) so it doesn’t weigh down your hair while leaving your hair soft but not greasy. A great tip for the deep conditioning treatment step I like to do is after shampooing and towel drying my hair I apply a deep conditioner and wrap my hair in a towel leaving it on for a while so that the warmth and moisture really penetrates your hair and then rinse it for the next hair step.
For leave in conditioners I absolutely love The Ouais “Smooth Spray” Leave-In Conditioner that detangles and smooths (as well as the “Wave Spray” for soft beachy waves with a soft texture formula to finish your hair) or Briogeos “Farewell Frizz” Rosarco Milk Leave-In Conditioner (with coconut and argan oils to hydrate and “lock-in seal” the hair cuticle that prevents frizz). The Living Proofs Restore Collection “Repair Leave-In” Conditioner is another good one. For hair oils there are all kinds out there to choose from as well to moisturize and hydrate that can be used wet or dry. You can basically use any oil but coconut, argan, Moroccan, and rose oils are great. They are also good to use after you are done styling your hair applying a small amount and combing through your hair with your fingers to soften and make it super shiny, smooth, and smelling good while also locking in moisture as well as helping reduce frizz and flyaway. I like the really lightweight and fresh light scented oils like (one of my absolute favorite product of all time) the Biosilk “Silk Therapy” Oil in the original formula. It is an oldy but a goody but its light and it makes your hair super shiny, smooth, and the smell is to die for!! There is also the IGK “Rich Kid Coconut Oil Gel” and even the Josie Maran “100% Pure Argan Oil” that are really good. For serums there is the OGX “Nourishing Coconut Milk Anti-Breakage Serum” and the Paul Mitchell “Skinny Serum”. If you want to add an illuminating glow to your hair there is the Bumble & Bumble “Bb Glow dry Accelerator” that is a “lightweight spray that cuts blow dry time” and prevents breakage for a “healthy glow”, the Drybar “Shimmer Spritzer Finishing Spray” in Rose Gold that is a “light-diffusing shimmer spray that adds a “three-dimensional sparkle with a hint of rose gold highlight” that gives your hair a light hold, or the “Sparkling Soda” Shine Mist that is a “super-fine lightweight high-glow finish.
To apply after youre done depending on how you want to style your hair The Ouais “Smooth Spray” and “Finishing Crème (apply to the ends of damp hair before you dry that protects and leaves it shiny) are so good and the Living Proof Restore “Perfecting Spray” that “goes beyond moisture for strength, smoothness, and shine”. There is also the “Nourishing Styling Cream” in the “no frizz” line to hydrate and smooth the hair down. There are also hydrating mists that you can use to give an extra moisture boost like Paul Mitchells “Instant Moisture Awapuhi Moisture Mist” (with lactic acid, Hawaiin awapuhi extract, spirulina, amino acids, vitamins, and plankton for deep moisture to make your hair soft and hydrated The Nourishing Coconut Oil Weightless Hydrating Oil Mist” from OGX To keep those silky locks in place there is the Paul Mitchell strong-hold “Stay Strong Finishing Spray” that has “maximum control and volume” that is a super-fine mist for soft touchable hold, the Bumble & Bumble “Hairdresser Invisible Oil Soft Texture Finishing Spray” with a 6 oil blend for a bedhead “casually-tousled texture” hold, and the Pureology Soft Finish Hairspray” for brushable flexible hold that has orange peel oil and almond milk.
Taking hair vitamins, supplements and boosters is another way to repair and strengthen your hair. The Briogeo “Be Well Healthy Hair Supplements” are a unique “algae-derived” vegan formula with omega 3, 6, and 9 complex fatty acids, and biotin and the Pacifica “Hair Nirvana Beauty Gummies” also have lots of the same hair benefiting ingredients in them to help your hair grow strong and healthy.
With all the great products out there now for hair youre sure to find one that fits your hair repairing and replenishing needs to have your hair smooth, silky, healthy, and protected as well as ready for the winter season.
