Fall Makeup Focus: The New Makeup Geek “Fall Harvest” Eyeshadow Palette Review & First Impressions

The Makeup Geek brand by CEO Marlena Stell that we all came to know and love back in the days when Jaclyn Hill was rising into a beauty guru with her YouTube channel and how she raved about the Makeup Geek products, particularly the eyeshadows (which I bought the entire collection of when I started my pro makeup artist kit and absolutely loved them with the quality for the price being so amazing), is back with another gorgeous fall palette. The beauty brand rebranded last year with reformulated and new products and has launched a beautiful new fall eyeshadow palette called the “Fall Harvest” palette.

It is a nine pan palette filled with fall inspired shadows in shades of “orchids, cider, and crisp autumn leaves” that has 6 mattes, 2 shimmers, and 1 foiled shadow. The formulas of the shadows are described as a “cream to powder hybrid” for the foiled shades, the mattes as “buttery smooth and richly pigmented”, and the shimmers are a soft shimmer that is not too metallic with “high shine and pigmentation” that is perfect for day or night looks. All of the shadows fit all skin tones from light to medium to deep and is priced at $15.99 which I got off of the Makeup Geek website. The shades in the palette (from left to right) 1st row: “Peach Smoothie” (a light soft peach matte), “Creased” (a medium taupe/tan matte), “Aphrodite” (a deep plum-brown matte), 2nd row: “Legend” (a foiled warm copper), “Thrive” (a forest green shimmer), “Cabin Fever” (a medium chestnut brown matte), 3rd row: “Dark Roast” (a deep coffee brown matte), “Bottom Line”, and “Embellished” (a deep chocolate-brown matte).

When I swatched the shadows I felt a little nostalgic remembering just how good these shadows are as I remember them when I bought all of them to be the base shadows for my pro makeup artist kit. The formula is still as incredible as the original shadows were if not better and the foiled shadows are so pigmented but not chunky and go on with smooth rich color. There isn’t much kick back or flyaway and they are really blend-able and buildable depending on the look or application you going for. The original shade “Peach Smoothie” is still around and one of the best transition shades as ever as well as “Legend” and “Thrive” with all three of those being my favorite shades of the palette. The shade “Bottom Line” which I think is the “satin” shimmer shadow of the palette surprised me at how stunning it is and how you can build it up to be a be kind of a multi-faceted subtle shimmer shade and a chocolate-brown taupe that is such a silky shimmer. The more you blend and layer it, the more it brings out the beautiful shimmer of the shade.

The “Fall Harvest” eyeshadow palette is such a great palette for fall with 9 shades that you can create many fall looks with whether it is a daytime look, or a sultry and smokey nighttime look. The price for the quality of the shadows is still amazing and in my opinion are one of the best eyeshadow formulas out there. I plan on re-buying them for my pro makeup artist kit again and would definitely recommend them to everyone!
