Hello and welcome to The Beauty Focus! I am a professional freelance makeup artist finishing my certification at a makeup artistry school. Let me think; I guess it all started for me when I worked for Clinique cosmetics in a major luxury department store chain in southern California as a young mother in the 1980’s (I’m probably dating myself but what the heck lol!) and I discovered the bigger world of makeup, beauty, and skin care than I had previously known about before. I wasn’t as good at pushing the sales side of cosmetics to customers but I really enjoyed the artistic side of the makeup that included giving face makeovers and skin care treatments with Clinique products. I loved the response from people that I got after the makeup was done and they looked at themselves in the mirror. Making them feel so beautiful and confident is always so rewarding. The magic of makeup can be a powerful thing that’s absolutely limitless and can be used to transform people and things into beautiful works of art!
So, needless to say, after that I was hooked! But, as we all know life can give you twists and turns that you don’t expect that can sidetrack your journey in life so I didn’t get back into the makeup and beauty industry again until the last few years. I always wanted to get back into it professionally so with my daughter leaving the nest and going to college I decided it was time for a career change and signed up to get my certification in makeup artistry. I am so happy I made the decision to make it a career and have been doing it ever since!
The Beauty Focus blog was started as an extention of my love for makeup artistry and beauty as well as to encompass my love for writing and photography. It is for anyone and everyone to enjoy but especially for those that share the love of makeup and beauty related things. I hope that it brings to you many hours of reading pleasure, informative beauty knowledge, and inspiring creative ideas but most of all a place to have fun. Happy perusing and thanks so much for stopping by!
