New Makeup Focus: Maybelline’s “Total Temptation” Mascara

Maybelline has come out with some really great new makeup launches recently and has been definitely stepping up their game in the beauty market adding creativity and quality that’s on trend with some of them coming out almost back to back.  One of the most recent products that I saw at Walgreen’s and heard a little bit about on social media is Loreal’s new “Total Temptation” Mascara.  It has received a lot of hype in the beauty market and social media lately and I have always loved L’Oréal mascaras so I purchased some to try and do a review on.

So, I’m wearing it around the house as I clean and do chores which should be a good way to test out the durability and long wear factor.  The packaging is nice with a pink and sleek bottle that has a nice secure snap in place lid that is easy to hold for application control.  The brush is nice and pretty fluffy and a great shape (although not as long as the original formulas or the Voluminous Lash Paradise brushes) that can reach more lashes in one sweep than some smaller applicator brushes in size and applicator can do.  It is a good formula that doesn’t go on too thick or clumpy and distributes evenly over each lash without clumping.  I compared it to the Voluminous Lash Paradise Mascara that has been so raved about and trending this past year as well as the other favorite mascaras from L’Oréal that I have loved which are the Voluminous Original in the color 360 “Black Noir” and Carbon Black”; the waterproof and the regular formulas and I have to say that after trying this one I still love the original mascaras best.  They have a better formula (not as thick and coats each lash from root to tip without clumping) and the brush is fatter, thicker, and fluffier so it can get a lot of lashes in one sweep and creates more and more volume with each application.

While I was wearing the  Voluminous Lash Paradise it lasted pretty long without flaking, or causing the “raccoon” effect around your eyes that some mascaras can cause after wearing by the end of the day or night but honestly I was a little disappointed and it really did not wear the same or have the effect and look on the lashes that I thought it would.  I believe when I bought it it was priced at approximately $7.99 to $9.99 with the other Voluminous mascaras being around the same price depending on where you buy them.

I guess it would be a matter of personal opinion and what you like best in mascaras as far as formula, wear, and application but for me I didn’t like it as well as the other L’Oreal mascaras or some in the high end market like Too Faced “Better Than Sex Mascara”, Lancôme’s “Hypnos” waterproof, regular, and “Drama” mascaras, Urban Decay’s “Perversion” Mascara, and on the lower end some of the Maybelline mascaras like “Big Shot Colossal” (this one got a lot of hype but I wasn’t all that impressed with this one) and “Bloom” Full Lash mascaras and it wasn’t as good as these.  So, Try it for yourself and see but it in my opinion it is not as good as some of the other mascaras in the L’Oréal line.
